Major League Cricket’s Second Season Kicks Off
Following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2024, various leagues have resumed, with MLC being one of the highlights. During a match in Dallas between San Francisco Unicorns and Los Angeles Knight Riders, Russell showcased his prowess by hitting an extraordinary shot. Known for his explosive batting in T20 cricket, Russell once again proved why he is considered one of the most dangerous batsmen in the game, especially in the death overs.
Russell’s Record-Breaking Six
The Los Angeles Knight Riders opted to bat first and reached a score of 150 for 6 in 19 overs. Haris Rauf, representing San Francisco Unicorns, bowled the final over. After two dot balls, Rauf delivered a slightly pitched-up ball on the third delivery, which Russell powerfully struck towards wide long-on. The ball soared 107 meters long and reached an official height of 351 feet, potentially making it the highest six in cricket history. Interestingly, Russell had previously hit a 108-meter six against Rauf in the first season of MLC.
San Francisco Unicorns Clinch Victory
In the match, the Los Angeles Knight Riders posted a total of 165 for 6 in 20 overs. However, the San Francisco Unicorns chased down the target in just 15.2 overs with the loss of 4 wickets, thanks to notable performances by Finn Allen (63 runs) and Matthew Short (58 runs). With this win, the Unicorns moved to the top of the points table with 2 points, while the Knight Riders stood at third or fourth place with one win and one loss from two matches.
